Love for your Sweet Tooth

I could go on about heart healthy foods, cholesterol lowering supplements or how to have healthy blood pressure levels. But how about some healthier sweet treat options for you on Valentine’s day!

Here are a few desserts you can enjoy today or any day that are decadent enough to be unhealthy, but are full of healthy ingredients that will nourish your body, soul and sweet tooth…

Chocolate Avocado Mousse

Ingredients:

2 ripe avocados
1 can full fat coconut milk
1/3 cup cocoa powder
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp sea salt
1/4 cup maple syrup or raw honey
Optional: 1/4 cup melted semi sweet chocolate

Directions:

Scoop out avocado flesh into high speed blender. Add all the cream from coconut milk plus a splash of the water from the can. Add the rest of the ingredients to the blender.

Start to blend slowly, adding in more liquid from the coconut milk can if needed. Blend until smooth creamy texture.

Scoop into your favorite dishes and place in the fridge for 1-2 hours to allow for the mousse to set.

Enjoy with fresh berries, fruit, cacao nibs and shaved coconut!

Freezer Fudge

Ingredients:

3/4 cup coconut oil
3/4 cup of your favorite nut butter (peanut or almond work great)
1/4 cup maple syrup
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1/2 tsp sea salt
pinch of cinnamon
Optional: 1 scoop collagen peptides

Directions:

In a double boiler melt coconut oil and nut butter together. Add cocoa powder and maple syrup, cinnamon and sea salt. Stir until all melted together. Add any extras (collagen, ashwaganda, macca powder). Transfer into a glass measuring cup.

Pour the melted liquid into ice cube trays.

Add a sprinkle of sea salt onto each filled ice cube square. Place in the freezer for a minimum of 2 hours.

Crack ice cube tray and enjoy the freezer fudge squares!
